Riverbend's Bright Young Things
What is it?
A bookclub for our Bright Young Teens. There will be two groups with fifteen members in each - one group dedicated to Years 7 to 9, and the other dedicated to Years 10 to 12.
When will it take place?
Once a month for eight months, starting in March. Years 7-9 will meet at 4pm and Years 10-12 will meet at 5:30pm on the following Wednesdays:
Who will be running it?
Jane Sullivan is a self-confessed bibliophile who has taught English in secondary schools since 2003. She plans to return to teaching when her three young sons are a little older. In her spare time, she has worked at the University of Queensland teaching Academic English as part of a Tertiary Preparation Program. Her taste in books varies, though her all-time favourite is Matilda by Roald Dahl. She is very much looking forward to sharing her love of reading and going on some literary adventures with Riverbend’s Bright Young Things!
What does it involve?
The fee is $80 for the year, which must be paid up front to secure placement. The book will be chosen by Jane each month, and will be available to purchase the month before. Members recieve 10% off the books, and will also have the opportunity to contribute to Riverbend by writing shelf talkers or reviews for our blog.
